Service History from chassis number?

Hi All

I own a 96 W210 420 - silver with AMG body kit - Ive just spent a small fortune having it completely restored including;

new front wheel bearings
new engine belt
new dipstick transmission leak fixed - new sump gasket
new kickdown cable
new steering rack
new alternator bearings
new airmass sensor
new water pump
new hood release handle
new AC compressor
new AC condensor
New AC filters
Jap sat nav system and wiring removed ( was not working and obsolete)
Wheel alignment
New - AMG towing cover and painted to match
Repair and repaint front bumper
new drivers side sun shade
and finally engine oil and fllter

when i purchased the car six months ago it had no history or documents
(yes i know this was risky)

The car was originally from Japan and was imported here to Dubai in the UAE.

now I am building up some service history for the car I would like to know if it is possible to retrieve any service history from mercedes using the chassis number?

when i have owned BMWs I know there is a record from in the global database for each vechicle, how do I go about this with mercedes?

by the way...

the car is now running like a dream

thanks

Ollie

There is a digital service booklet network service but I'm not sure if all dealers today use it and in any case it hasn't existed too long. I doubt it would help with your car but you can always ask.

The only information that Daimler is likely to have recorded are:

1) Chassis Build Order, basically, you car's birth certificate
2) Warranty or Recall Service History, reflecting service to the car for a warranty repair or recall campaign performed at a dealership.

I you've "spend a small fortune" at a Mercedes dealer you should be friends enough with them to ask them to give you a printout.

I assume this was intended for this particular car, where I would agree. From the link I posted you can see that the basic service history now can be stored to their servers, even independent workshops can subscribe to this database and can update the info according to the service they perform.

Forged service booklets are not rare in Europe, dodgy sellers try to make the car mileage look realistic when they reduce the odometer figure. This server based service booklet makes things a lot better.

Hi Kent Christensen,

the work was not done at a MB dealer - it was done at an independent workshop who specialize in German Cars, the mechs there are from Germany.

So - will a MB dealer be able to access a global Data base with information on my car from previous dealership servicing?

Ask your independent workshop if they entered their work in a "global database."

I'd say the chances are 100% they didn't because it's 100% there's no such thing.

The independent might be able to give you a printout from it's local computer.

There is an international automobile service database to which many if not most MB dealers belong where they report all maintenance records by VIN #. I believe that many other auto repair shops are members and also report repair data. This is not just for MBs but includes other makes and non-dealer repair shops. For the life of me I cannot recall the name of this database company, but I know it is out there.

Don't believe everything you think
