Chronic SLK habit
Hi, I will be collecting my third SLK from the factory at the end of next month (my second 350: previous car R170 230). I tried very hard not to buy yet another SLK but after driving the competition I couldn't convince myself to do it.
I have thrown everything at the new one on the basis that I might as well enjoy having a nice car while I am (relatively) young (53 next birthday). Also, the wife refused to consider our annual drive to the French Riviera in anything else: and she test drove the Aston!
So here's my conclusions about the other drives I had: see if you agree (I'm being a bit provocative but what the hell).
Z4: Felt like a roller skate. Not for grown ups. Not for any distance work.
Boxster: Great round the corners but distinctly low rent inside.
911 cabrio: Scuttle shake like my old Saab 900. £70K? You must be joking!
AM Vantage (used): Dashboard rattles, agricultural gearbox and clutch, Volvo switchgear and satnav. Lots of presence but beyond the badge......?
Jaguar XF: Looks like a Mazda, nice interior, but I'm not ready for a saloon.
