Engine Management System

The EMS warning light in my 7 years old SLK200 model occasionally comes on, even though there is no discernible change in the car's performance. Each time I have taken it to a Mercedes specialist who has re-set the indicator after checking the vehicle out with his diagnostic equipment and finding nothing wrong.

At nearly £50 a time, this is becoming an increasingly expensive and fruitless exercise. Has any other member experienced the same problem ? Any ideas how it can be cured would be welcome.
