| | 2006 ML 500 Engine Noise and other problems
I have a 2006 ML 500, almost 2 years old now, with 13,000 miles. It's been problematic since I got it, and it has been in the shop over 8 times for the same engine noise issues. First, it was determined to have carbon buildup, and the engine has been "de-carboned" four times. I still have a loud pinging/diesel'ish noise when driving in-city between 2,000 and 2,500 RPM. The ML also rocks back and forth slightly when at stop signs. The engine RPM's never stay still, and the rocking is in time to the RFP fluctuation.
My dealer has thrown up their hands and engaged Mercedes Benz technicians to deal with it (since visit #5), and they've yet to resolve. Also, it's incredibly difficult to get them scheduled to work on the vehicle - months out, and at their convenience.
In addition to the above, I've had a transmission failure, and new transmission components and software installed. This was extremely troubling as I was crossing the border into Canada when it happened.
This is my first Mercedes, and I was looking forward to being a lifelong client, but the problems and lack of attention/concern have soured me. I've asked for a replacement vehicle, or a buyout, but when I ask for that, my dealer ignores me. Even if I do stay with Mercedes, I certainly won't use that dealer again!
Any thoughts on the engine noise and rocking woudl be appreciated.
