I have a 2000 E 320. I paid 13,000.00 for it with 50,000 miles.
When I bought the car from the dealer I signed papers (I think more than one)
saying the car is "as is".
There were a few things wrong with the car that I didn't find out about until after I started driving it. After all the fixes I think I paid about 14,000.00
Nothing major, just a lot of little things that I did myself, with the help of this forum.
Last week the car developed a rattle. I put the car up and went underneath and discovered that the rattle is in the exhaust. I brought the car to a mechanic who told me to turn up the radio. "the pipe is really expensive"
The noise got too loud to live with so I went to a muffler shop. They told me it is the catalytic converters. (two?) They said it cost 3,200.00 plus tax.
They suggested I call the dealer. I couldn't see how the dealer could help but, I called.
I was told, "it's covered under warranty, when would you like to bring it in?"
"Would you like a loaner car while your car is here?"
How great is this?
So far (six months) everything I have done with the dealer has been expensive but done really well. As far as service (I don't mean fixing the car) they get it. I tell people in my job, price ;quality ; service; pick two.
I'll post again when I get the car back.
