Mercedes and BMW among the targets for Korean carmaker's first high-end luxury sedan Can Hyundai compete with the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz?
Sounds like a tall order.
But who would have guessed during its Pony days 25 years ago that the Hyundai group (including Kia) would today rank as the fifth largest carmaker in the world, surpassing, among others, Honda and Nissan?
Their next challenge is to launch the Genesis sedan into the luxury segment.
The image and engineering targets for this car are the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. But the cars they expect to really sell against include the Cadillac CTS, Chrysler 300C, Lexus ES 350 and the Infiniti G35
