I need best ideas for economically transporting two recently purchased '83 W123 sedans from Denver area to Houston. Both cars are driveable but, not road trip worthy at this point. Car hauler probably best solution. Recommendations on who to use? These are not priceless relics but, worthy beasts for restoration. One a 300td 4-speed and the other a 240d 4-speed.
If they can be towed (as opposed to needing a trailer) you might contact one of the auto auction houses in the Denver metro area. When I lived in CO I used to see them going up and down I-25 all the time, driving one car and towing sometimes two behind. Since they're not priceless and you're looking at them from the restoration standpoint then you probably know enough about the proper ways to tow them and that's probably a lot cheaper than trailer transport ... and this time of year, sufficiently safe. I don't know if they have their own drivers or use various companies, but that's at least a place to start and probably the most economical.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

The easiest way is to tow. But you can tow one and drive one. Or find a friend and drive it both. Everything depends if you afford it or not Good luck.
Thanks for the ideas. Shipping quote from DAS was $683 per vehicle. Driving one and towing the other definately looks to be the cheapest IF I can get one of the cars road worthy enough to do the job.
When I bought my SL in Phoenix is wasn't running and had it transported to Albuquerque. I got bids from probably 15 or so transporters and went with Red Carpet Red Carpet Auto Transport Company Home Page and they did an excellent job at a very good price. I dealt with Cheri: cherieb@redcarpetautotransport.com
