Post Speaker Covers

I don"t know if this has been done. but the speakers i will be purchasing for my '82 300d-t may be too tall for me to replace the black plastic speaker covers. so my idea is to buy some zerbrano wood, which i believe is the same thing as zebrawood (correct me if i am mistaken), and make my own custom speaker covers that will let the speakers and grill to be seen. anybody have ideas or suggestions. i"m also curious if this might affect the sound at all. its only an idea. i have quite a while to save up for the actual speakers. MB Quart is expensive!

Man I think thats a great Idea.
I have been looking to do the same thing but with basic wood.
I put some 5 inch kicker's in the rear and they give the MB Quarts quite a run for the money. They are not as bright and have a lot more low end. Keep us posted!
