Service B - Help...

Hey guys,

I've just recently bought a used 2005 c230 kompressor, and as this is my first mercedes I'm not familiar with alot of things to do with the upkeep. I get a message saying that "Service B is 417 days past due" and I'm clueless as to what this means.
The dealership I bought it at said that they changed the oil while it was there but I'm getting the impression that there are other things that need to be done?

Also I just got back from a weekend trip and I got a message (as I was pulling in the driveway believe it or not) that said to check the coolant level... Can I get by with just adding water until the winter months, and if not what kind of coolant am I supposed to use?

I really hope someone can help me with this, this looked like a great site from the 20 minutes I spent looking at it before I registered

Thanks guys!

Add coolant, not sure where you are in the world but most auto stores sell 50/50. Check your manual, it should explain what the A & B service consists of.

RE:

The manual that I have (there may be another that wasn't included?) doesn't say what the difference is. But you're saying you do know that the coolant to use is 50/50 correct?
Is it possible that the service was done but the sensor wasn't reset?
If the car is still under the 50k warranty does the service B fall under it?

If the car is still under warranty then the dealer should take care of the coolant, as far as the B service goes that's separate from the warranty.

Seems pretty obvious the "dealership" wasn't a Mercedes dealer ... which would have reset the system if they had performed the required services.

Best "clue" you can get at this point is to get this car serviced by a Mercedes dealership or by an independent Mercedes specialist. Other so-called mechanics or dealerships can't work on Mercedes.
