1996 C220 blinky red and green light issue
I am a new member but have kept up on your forum for some time. I own a 1996 C220 and have enjoyed the vehicle. Great gas mileage and runs good.
I now have the problem that many have discussed about the alternating blinking red and green light problem and the car will not start. I have replaced the batteries in the FOB and just recently replaced the immobiliser control unit or others have called it the central locking control unit that is located under the floor board of the passenger side front seat. I have unhooked/hooked the battery back up and the same thing happens. Car turns over and lights flash. I could not get the FOB to work with the replaced control unit after trying the hold the button down twice and turn key to position 2 thing. The lights still flash.
I put the old control unit back and the the FOB works with that unit and locks and unlocks the car as expected but still the car will not start.
I now have no idea what the next steps should be in troubleshooting this problem. If anyone has ideas I would appreciate it. I have had the local dealer look at it and they cannot figure this out.
