new headlights and different prong patterns

ive just boughten new headlights, the stock headlights have a 4 prong and the signals have 3 prongs. Now my new headlights have 5 and the signals have 2. the company said the lights were just plug and play and i have yet to actually try and install them as my car has been in paint for the last couple weeks, but maybe a little knowledge(if anyone has it) before hand might be a big help. Thanks alot.

Doesn't look right, can you find the headlamp unit part number from the new part (why not the old too)?

It could be a model year change issue, there are changes but the number of connector pins do not seem to match.

Are both standard halogen units?

There is also a market area difference but you already indicated properly where you come from.

the new headlights are HID and were for w202's and i know of another one which im sure are the exact same set as my own, one thing ive noticed is that the stock signals are 3 prong and the new signals have 2 prongs but as well have a 3rd plastic prong just to fill the empty hole perhaps of the stock prong connector. but that still doesnt explain the reason why the new headlights have 5 metal prongs, whats the extra one for?

Why not give all the relevant background info on one go, I'm not interested if you are aware of another similar set, isn't that obvious, your car or the new set of headlights cannot be anything custom made for you.

Now you've mentioned that the new lights are Xenons but you do not state clearly if your old ones were halogens. You cannot expect compatible wiring between the two. Xenons would include support for automatic level control too.

You could post:
- the part numbers (old/new units),
- the car VIN or at least six first digits (202xyz), the exact build date if you don't want to post the VIN.

alright sorry for the amateur-ness. Well i dont have my car right now it is in paint and im just getting things in order for installation for when i get it back. anyways the vehicle 99' c230 kompressor VIN is WDBHA24GXXF827688. the stock lights are halogen(dont have their #, theyre in paint) and the new headlights number as far as i can tell are SK3301-11394, made by Sonar. Now the other car with these headlights is a user on here and another 202 forum and i have emailed him with my questions but he has not replied back, so i came here looking for answers. any more help is appreciated.

So it is a 202024 car from late 1998, that is very late.

Your current headlamps have wiring for high beam, the low beam and the fog lamp, plus a ground wire.

The xenons I was able to find, had 4 wires for lights plus 4 four the level control. I assume the US xenons are different and I could not find details for those. However, the halogens from 08/1999 onwards have a 5 pin plug for lights. I'm guessing the xenon assembly you have would fit to this later 202 design. I hope you get more details from the 202 section.

The issue of the corners having two prongs is easy . . . they are the non-US bulb holders, since the US uses a dual filament bulb for running lights and turn indicators, while the rest of the world just uses them for turn signals.
