Diesel 4 matic * fact or fiction

So an acquaintance of mine says he thinks he saw a Mercedes diesel 4 matic. I say he is seeing things. I have been hooked on Mercedes diesels for sometime and have never come across one. Anyone ever seen one or are they elusive like the sasquatch. Thanks

The ML, R, and GL's come with the diesel option and 4-Matic, but not the E.

I've had a 300TDT 4-matic S124 years ago. These exist in many forms but may not have been part of the US model range.

Forget 4-Matic, where can I find diesel wagon in USA that would not be older than 20 years?

There was an article on this site way back that talked about the E320 CDI 4Matic over in Europe. It obviously doesn't exist in the US lineup.

Have you tried those? I did buy Jetta wagon tdi for my project 500 miles away few years ago. 2 years ago when my project ended, I already had a buyer scheduled to come, when my wife's ML got totaled. I put the sale on hold and asked her if she wants to drive Jetta for now.
She took it for a ride and come with the answer "no freaking way". Those are nice cars when you have economy in mind, but are several levels below MB in comfort and safety.
You know, wifes don't have to worry about economy.
