P0340! How to check the camshaft sensor?

Hi

I just got a P0340 code which is strange since it has just been serviced. I am already wondering if my camshaft actuator is working properly so now I am really curious. I have looked a the Internet and I checked the power to the sensor which seems fine but how to I check the wire from the ECU to the sensor. The wire connections on the ECU seems so small....

Also, if I delete the error code will it show up again next time I check. Could this code just be because the mechanic took the sensor of temporarily and the code just need to be deleted? What happens when you delete a code?

Please help
