230TE Tailgate Struts

Hello all
Well, at the grand old age of 53 I got a Merc!
Couple of questions:
Tailgate wont stay up,faulty struts?
Do these have to be replaced,or can you re-gas them?
Thank you

MMM.. Think I have found the answer, guess I will have to replace

Seems a bit tricky
