Headlight Upgrades for 350 SD

I have a '91 SD-350. Are there any halogen or HID headlight upgrade kits available that make an easy instal? The stock lights on this car really are just average. I want better night illumination.

Mercedes did have a Xenon kit for the W140 but it is outsold at least from every shop in Europe. You can buy separate parts but it gets expensive. Perhaps some after market solutions exist.

He doesn't have a W140. He has a W126.

There are no easy DIY HID upgrade kits available, no. To do HID on a W126 would be VERY expensive. You can swap your crappy low output sealed beam headlamps for all-glass Euro headlights. They provide MUCH better output and accuracy. Visit Your Source for Low Cost Quality European Specification Headlamps And Other Goodies For Your Mercedes for Euro headlamps and be careful to avoid the cheeeeeezy "projector" plastic headlamps on ebay.

Thanks for this correction, W140 started 1991 in Europe, not sure though if we had any 350SD then. I don't even know if HIDs were available for a W126 as OEM?

Dan Stern is the Mercedes lighting expert. Do a Google search for Dan Stern Lighting. I think he comes up as the first item.

No, HID's were NOT available from Mercedes for the W126. Seeing that the W140 didn't even get them until mid-cycle how do you expect that the W126 had them?
