Speeding Ticket

So my sister recently got a speeding ticket, the officer wrote down the wrong year, he wrote 92 but its a 90, is this grounds for dismissal?

No. It has to be information concerning the actual infraction such as location, time of day, etc. I've never seen a ticket tossed because the officer erred on the specific model year.

I wonder how he got that wrong? Don't they copy the info directly from the registration card? BTW, I don't think those are grounds either but why don't you try it and you might get lucky!

Well I dunno how the officer got it wrong, he also put M under gender, for my sister. Only other difference is that our license plate number recently changed, it was after the citation, but because of a reissue throughout NC we have a different license plate number. I know that can't affect it, but it would be sweet it it could.

Go to court, plead not guilty. (Ask a Lawyer about the wrong year.) It might be worth it, if he got the year wrong, how can anyone be sure anything ellse he wrote was correct. Be aware, the court staff will make corrections to their copy of the ticket. Look up the infraction and check the state law. That may have been wrong as well.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

In NC a $100 paid to a lawyer along with the likely $100 fine can easily get the ticket reduced to an "equipment malfunction" which will not affect insurance rates.
