Exclamation EPC - Electronic Power Control

Deisel Motors - Random fault, loss of power sometimes engine just cuts out - clears itself after resart? Sound familiar then read on

My story:
1 yr ago - EPC light comes up on dash - visit workshop! Ahhh - engine cut out in fast lane while accelerating - do as message says.

So workshop visited - two new injectors and credit card in trouble

Couple of weeks later - loss of power etc - EPC light - visit workshop message.
Workshop wants to change the other 4 injectors on a 50k mile engine! Hang on this doesnt sound right to me.
Remove car from workshop - idea! Drive till something breaks - then they can fix it.
Nothing broken yet - 12mths later! however now sometimes wont start without swirt of ether ( carry can of easy start - looks good on parcel shelf of S320CDi )
Today at last - it died again - country lane, foot down coming out of bend and goodnight - dead as a dodo.

Ok so this car has been to 3 merc shops for diagnositcs who tell me that there is nothing wrong with it and everything is fine - EPC reset - 1 hour min fee and have a nice day.

Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong woth this car?

This swirt of ether doesn't sound right to me. Also if it does not start without that, there should be an issue that isn't that difficult to diagnose. Could be one of the pressure sensors.

Does the EPC light come on at full or close to full throttle or just randomly?

As a random fault sometimes it does start - other times needs a swirt. ( been corrected Squirt! ) I would say about 20% of the times I need to get out and use easy start.
The car will show no malfunctions - drive ok for a few miles to a few hundred miles and then during acceleration it will lose power ( and twice now cut out completely ) and the EPC warning comes on. Next time its started it will be fine again.

Really annoying fault!
I did think it could be low presure pump or as you say Pressure Sensor. Or maybe the Air Mass Meter? Dont think workshop is right wanting to change 4 x injectors - they charged me £500 a injector last time so they want £2k and wont guarantee that will fix it.
