Arrow Running out of gas? Where should you buy?

This article was e-mailed to me by a friend from California. I don’t know the validity of the statements so I’m leaving it up to you to verify or criticize.

If this article’s statements are true, then at least I was able to help members of

Here you go:

Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be good for us!

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:
Shell............................ 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon/Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco..............................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America .If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (Oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel)

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair.................0 barrels
B P/Phillips............0 barrels
Hess.......................0 barrels
ARC0......................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

I have seen this before and it is dated. British Petroleum and Amoco are now the same company (BP/Amoco), at least in the United States. I don't know if Phillips is still in existance.

The point that I'd like to make is that we should all be using one of the "Top Tier" gasolines as recommended by several of the auto manufacturers. For this reason I use Chevron exclusively but Texaco is one too and they have merged. Google will give you the rest and they list several companies that are unique to Canada.

Send a message via Yahoo to Mercedes Benz of Florida
BP has merged with Amoco and Philips.
Chevron/Texaco same company, merger.
Chevron, Exxon, Texaco also come from the Gulf of Mexico
I used to work at Main Pass 299 and it comes from there and a few
hundred spider rigs in the GOM

I use Chevron or Amerada Hess if I can.
But Chevron is excellent gasoline.

Remember not everybody is an OPEC member
