Nav systems for slk230 suggestions

Hi everyone, just bought our first MB.. 2001 slk230.. love it.. does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on a Nav system for it.. sure doesn't look like there's any space to have one installed but maybe some of you experienced owners have either had one installed or have some good solutions.. Thanks!!

You are going to have to go portable. No one makes a dash kit for that car that I know of, unless you have it custom made. Some shops will do that, we do it here and some dont. But if you do end up going portable, get a panavise mount and have it hardwired (cig lighter splitter) it will look better that way.

I checked these for a dash kit and came up with nothing:
Metra
Scosche
American International
bestkits.com
installer.com

First welcome to Benzworld. When you get a chance check out the R170 forum. It is the forum specific to your model. I have a garmin 340 which I have been very happy with. If this is not what you want, take a look at the link below:

There is an MB navi option for a 170 SLK but perhaps it isn't for your market area (I assume the US). For older cars an after market might still make more sense.

Nav and sound installation

I have removed the factory audio and replaced with them all but kept the factory wires except for havingt to bring new ones to the door for highs. I used the factory loom to get the sub in the trunk. I also use small ring connectors that are flattened to fit factory harnesses. The HU isn't super high end but I like the touch screen and the media options. It has Nav, CD, MP3, DVD, USB, SD Card, and External port for vid and audio so connecting back up camera, I-Pod, of Satalite radio is as easy as opening th glove box and connecting the outputs. I had to remove the spare for the single 12" bandpas but plan on making a cover for that space to mount the sub on with the spare in the car. The amp is cramped in the stock location, so i will relocale it to the hidden space under the passenger seat I will post pics when I go through that

Nicely done. You should post this on the R170 forum.

Maybe a mod will come along and move this thread to the R170 section.
