So Streetglower,
Are you saying that Miami is not the best place to have our Benz serviced at?

I can hear the phone call to the customer now...

"Sir, we noticed a safety related problem that is covered by your warranty; it will take about a week to ten days to get the part in from Germany, and in the interim, we will be more than happy to provide you with a loaner..."

Fiction? Sure, but beyond the mentality of some dealers, I doubt it...

"Dealer: Sir: There has been a very unexpected and sudden malfunction with one of our hydraulic lifts that is very very rare in occurrence. Its probability being astronomically low, it may also have been attributed in a small part to minute error on the part of one of our technicians, who was asleep during the first class of his first day of training. At any rate this malfunction does unfortunately affect your vehicle. Please call us and hold for the service manager to discuss."

Looks to me they had hard time to convince the owner, that the $5000 safety inspection estimate is really necessary.

You would be surprised as to how often that happens.

Funny story........ A while back I owned a Mitsubishi product. I was having big problems with the dealer not wanting to cover a warranty issue and was actually IN the service techs bay with a Mitsubishi Zone Rep talking about my car when the tech in the bay right next to where my car was dropped a car off his lift, barely missing my car.

Imagine the look on the zone reps face and the immediate comment to me of "don't worry, your vehicles warranty issues will be covered and fixed immediately"
