The MSRP won't change much because car companies don't like selling cars at a loss. But prices of used cars drop much more sharply when the economy drops because there is much less demand. That's just a general explanation, though; I don't know the exact situation in Dubai.

There's probably not much demand for roof cross-bars either, but they are available (dealer had to special-order them). And you are right that's its rare to see an Impreza towing a trailer, but mine nonetheless came with the wiring harness all ready to go. If Subaru can include such a simple thing, why not Mercedes?

Do you also expect Mercedes to come out with the LL Bean edition of the R-Class?

I would never hitch a trailer with my Mercedes. For that chore I'd try the Lamborghini.
Used car resale prices will do well if a buyer worth financing is found.

Getting close to pulling the trigger on a 07 S550 with the AMG Sports package and would like to know what you have heard, from the guys in your service department, concerning the reliability of the S550. I love the car and just want to know what I am getting myself into. Anything in particular that I should look at? It does have 18K miles and looks mint, with around 1.5 years of the new car warranty 4/50 left.

Would you also recommend I purchase the Mercedes extended warranty before my new car warranty is up? Thanks.

There-there, it will all be OK. And Bambi's mother didn't really die.

Reassuring enough for ya?

Found an interesting article about Dubai, including an explanation of why used car prices have crashed:

ha ha No, but why do they not sell parts here that are available in Europe? I'm not asking for a different engine, just a trailer hitch and wiring harness.

You are in the heart of the NE technology corridor, have the muscle (S construction), have the power (550 engine), and have the interest. Forget MB for a while. Find a great (not good, great) tuner -cars and SUV's-, agree on a hitching design (hookup, lights, weight, attachment of components to car, warranty), have it evaluated by your trusted mechanic, and roll it.
