I cannot speak for Canada...
but in the U.S., IF a fault can be traced back to a prior visit to the Dealer and said Dealer failed to correctly recognise and correct the problem, you may have a chance... maybe.
Here in the States, dealers are also given "goodwill" funds for issues such as this. When the air injection ports on my E420 clogged, the dealer essentially split the cost of the repairs, even though the 80K emissions warranty had expired 2K earlier; this was done on a "goodwill" basis. Treatment of these issues varies from Dealer to Dealer; some are liberal, and some look at goodwill funds as extra profit.
If regularly maintained by the dealer, the engine harness issue should have been caught, and that should be your argument there.
