Locking switch (MBenz E430) doesn't work...help...

I have a 2001 E430 and need someone's advise on a problem I discovered today. The locking switch on the dashboard of the car doesn't work when I want to lock the car (from the inside), but it does work when I want to unlock the car. Locking the car from the inside using that button used to work (as of yesterday).

When I use the remote control (outside of the car), I can both lock and unlock the car, but the turn lights only blink (as it should) when I unlock the car. When I try locking the car using the remote, the car locks, but the turn signal lights do not work.

Another thing, since I can't lock the car from the inside, I noticed that when I start driving it and it goes over 9-10 mph, the car automatically locks...

This is all confusing to me and I am not sure if this is a bigger electrical problem that I should be worrying about now...

I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas before I take the car to the dealership? Thanks in advance.

I can't help with the rest of your issues but your car's doors are supposed to lock automatically (by default) unless you choose to disable that function. Since there seems to be something wrong with your interior door locking switch, you might not be able to do that right now; disabling the feature involves the use of that switch.

Good Luck and Welcome to the forum!

I think I know what your problem is. To turn off the auto lock at 9mph you have to hold the lock button for 5 sec. continuously. It sounds as though your switch got stuck in the lock position at one point to activate the feature(since you didnt have it on before) and has since burned out the contact for locking. I would recommend changing the switch(I think you can replace just the lock switch). That is the easiest thing to start with unless you are comfortable doing electrical diagnosis. Hope that helps.
