190e wiper not returning to stopped position

MY 190e wiper has been going a little slow, but when I turn it off it doesn't return to the proper position. It stops about 9 inches before it reaches the hood. It is almost in my eyesite. I wd40'd it and it runs a little faster. But, when I turn it off it will not return to the proper position. IT runs intermitantly, slow and fast , it is just the off position that is screwed upIs it the motor? Transmission? PLEASE HELP! Is it hard to replace the motor? Should I juts repalce it and forget about it. What is the problem? PLease help me!!! thanks turk100

Your car is equipped with a relay that parks your wiper in the proper position when turned off. Perhaps it has failed...

The relay is either in or very near the fuse box.

I removed both releays that I found next to the fuse box, but the wiper still worked, yet the blade still stops midway. I assumed the wiper wouldn't work at all if the relays were removed. Is that a correct assumption?
