Post W126 Owners Manual

G'day everyone. As a newbie to this great Forum, just thought I'd say Hi to everyone from Bonnie Scotland. Having had all sorts of cars since I began driving in the late 1950s I have at last achieved ownership of an S-class Mercedes, a 1989 420SE, is near perfect condition, 64,000 miles (yes really)and only two owners. It looks great alongside my Range Rover, hitherto my pride and joy. The 420SE is fabulous and everything works fine, except for air con which (hopefully) only needs re-gassing. Only thing missing is an owner's manual, and with a car like this it is something I feel I really should have. I have tried everywhere, with no luck. Is there anyone out there who can help, please? Even photo copies would be great if all else fails. Here's hoping.

Assuming that you will have the same issues obtaining R12 like in the US, your AC will likely have to be retro-fitted to R134a. The CD manual from mercedes does have the owners manual for the 420SE/SEL on it. You can check to see if MB is selling it in Scotland. IF not, Performance Products does still list it in their catalog. Unfortunately, the last time I checked it was on back order.

Check out the w126 forum.

Post Many thanks

Hi Michael: Very much appreciate your help. I'll be able to get air con sorted, possibly easier than finding an owner's manual. Living here in Scotland air con is not the most important item of a car's spec, but I take the view that if it's fitted I want it working! Anyway, I'm planning on taking it to France in the summer, so it'll be mighty useful then. Best wishes, and thanks
