Post Transmission Filter & Fluid

Hello All,

I just bought a 2001 E320 with Dura lube warranty from a company called winners circle(Extended Vehicle Warranties | Winners Circle)
I just got a dura lube product from them with a some instructions. They want me to get the engine oil+filter change as well as Transmission Fluid and filter change. I contacted some local mechanic and they are charging me $300 for whole thing. is this a good price?

One thing i wanted to check was to buy my own parts for transmission (filter + fluid) and get it done locally from someone and just pay labor. What parts would i need exactly to do this? Where can i buy them? is there a part# I can look for?

I am also looking for a good mechanic in bay area.I am in Fremont,CA. Any recommendations?

Any help is appreciated

Welcome to the forum. You might want to go to W210 section for more exposure about your model (2001 is W210, isn't it?)
You will find lot of discussions about "lifetime" transmission fluids in MB. Read all and draw your own conclusion. I just changed fluid on my sedan with 240,000 miles and still think it was premature.
We had Bay Area get together last year and I think we might want to get together again soon. Better bring coverall if you want to admire JOE55's polished differential
I do my own repairs, so sorry, but no mechanic recommendations.

Who in the world sold you this, you need to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles at an authorized dealer and their product installed, The car needs to be certified by the selling dealer. I bet if you service it yourself they will reject a claim because you dont have a reciept.
You should have shopped, I think Chrysler was selling extended warranties, and so was MB if the car was not out of warrantiy. I wonder how they stand behind their warranty (the small print) and where you can get your car fixed.
With the FSS you can go up to 10,000 mles with a MB (fleece)oil filter and Mobil synthetic oil. Yes I would have the trans serviced around 50,000, and since it is supposed to be a lifetime fill use the MB fluid. got something agaist using the dealer?

In my opinion, $300 parts/labor is a fair price for an oil change and transmission service. If you choose that route, just make sure they use MB fluids and filters. Like most anything, you can save money by doing these yourself.

For fluids and parts, a lot of people like Mercedes Benz Parts, Mercedes Parts, Accessories and Auto Parts at AutohausAZ - OEM Auto Parts - Discount Replacement Parts, Resources and Car Care Tips

Good luck and welcome to the forum!
