New member, happy to find you

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place for this topic; if not, I apologize.

I am new here on, because I have just recently purchased a new car! It is a 1990 M-B 300CE, white with grey leather, ~93k miles. I have always loved coupes and Mercedes, so this car fits the bill! I have purchased it as a weekend car.

Previous cars in my stable have been a Buick Century coupe (rare and lots of fun, if not exactly considered desirable) and a Honda Del Sol (also very fun). It's a short list - because I'm young and I live in the city, so I don't actually need a car!

As with any car, there are a few problems upfront. The most pressing is that neither the front nor rear windows work. Fuses check out OK and I doubt it is a switch or regulator problem because they are all out. I have checked the forums and although this problem has been referenced obliquely, I was not sure what the fix was. One person suggested a relay, but as a noob I don't even know where the relays are or how to determine which is bad! (Or if it's something else entire).

Have any one of you fine people encountered this issue, or know what the fix is? I would be very grateful!

Welcome to the forum!

I can tell you is that your Mercedes is known as a W124, and that is a good vehicle series. There is a forum devoted to W124 if you want to scroll down to it from here.

General Mecedes Benz is meant for problems that are not necessarily model-related and I think your windows fit the category. I think by far, the most common window complaint is about the window regulators failing but I have never read of those being responsible for all 4 at the same time. It definitely sounds like an electrical, or systems, issue.

Good Luck.

Thanks everyone, glad to be here.

Haven't had any bright ideas about the windows BUT I ordered the tech data book from MB. That should at least allow me to work through the problem one step at a time. Data book is actually from 1993 (no 1990 available), but I am counting on the car being about 99.5% the same.

WELCOME! Im not an expert but it sounds like a fuse to me there are a couple of different fuse panels so make sure you check them all with a tester not just the "looks good" method. good luck
