I have been owner of MB for the last 5 years... and my question may sound akward,,,but why do you think MB is better than all the rest?
Why is it better then BMW and Volvo?
Why is better than Japanese cars....Acura, Mazda and Honda?
Why is better than the bunch of American cars...like Ford (in all thier gama) and GM in all their gana..including Cadillac?
Is question I dare to make because though I like my Mercs..... and bought them even for nostalgic reasons (my father owned a 1961 190, and several relatives had other mercs back in times when those were imported and before the goverment banned them in mexico along with any other imported in 1964 (now we have more brands in Mexico than in USA, believe it or not).... but the question is stil there...why so we love our mercs?????

I bought my 2 because I wanted them, not because they are indisputedly the finest automobiles in the world. There are good, and bad, Mercedes and you will see many more complaints than compliments on most forums of this type. That does not make them all bad, it's just that people come here to vent their frustrations and to solve problems. In other words, you will see a slightly skewed sample of MB owners.
In any event, welcome to the forum and good luck with your Mercedes!

Maybe this is not a matter of buying the best there is (I honestly think almost any car is very good nowadays..I mean they do not break down, they do not have water leaks and in case of collision will offer quite good protection)...and yes, you r right...I bought just because I like the damn car.... not for showing off (hardly in a B200, and I'm not that kind of guy)....yes.... just becuase...thanks
Who says it is better? Not too many of us have actual opportunity to compare. We drove Volvo for total of 17 years and dumped in for cosmetic reasons in perfect running condition.
My first MB was 1983 model. I can testify that lot of (the same) parts in model from 1980's are much better that from 1990's and 2000's.
I am actually pulling 25 years old MB parts from junk yard to replace those 6-7 years old on our newer models.
Sure I could spend my time and money to test if Volvo keeps the quality parts from 80's , but frankly I have no time for that.

well........ mine takes me all over Europe (slowly) and has NEVER let me down in 10 years .... (1991 w124 250D wagon/combi/estate) 400,000 kilometers, Has all day comfort, you can fit your whole life in the back, Runs on diesel or veg oil , returns 35mpg on average , you can service it with a knife and fork and it has huge personality.
Just my view , but I love "The Bismark" its one of the family.
A Merc is a Mercury. Depends on what you mean by better. MBs used to be better if better meant durable, repairable, long lasting, but all that's gone now.

I agree with you here deanyel but this stupid state uses that abbreviation for mine on the registration card. I wonder how they, in their infinite wisdom, abbreviate Mercury?
The FoMoCo brand Mercury isn't sold all over the world, so the nickname has been applied to Mercedes-Benz outside the US. On my registration card, the abbreviation used is MERZ.
