Lightbulb Service Places: Good and Bad

Hey, folks.

This idea has been discussed off and on and it seems to me that it is probably best to put it here in the general forum as it will apply to most MB owners, but perhaps not those who are lucky enough to own some of the vintage models.

If this proves useful, hopefully our section mod will consider this worthy of a sticky so it will always be easy to find -- at least so long as it continues to be of use. And hopefully it won't devolve into just a bunch of name-calling or trite information.

Here's the concept as I envision it.

If someone asked you for a recommendation on a good place for MB service, where would you send them?

Basic idea: you've personally dealt with them and had good service all around -- OR you personally know someone who went there and whose opinion you trust -- and can thus recommend them.
If so, then post the name, location, phone number, who to ask for, and any other relevant information.

On the other hand, if you have a horror story about a place to avoid -- this one really should be personal rather than anecdotal --
then post a basic summary of the experience and the name/location so other members can avoid them, too.

I'll start.

These are all recommendations.

For basic service and maintenance, mid-peninsula, Bay Area, CA:

Holland Car Care
22 South Claremont St
San Mateo, CA 94401
(650) 344-8815
hollandcarcare.com

Nielsen Automotive
888 El Camino Real
San Carlos, CA 94070
(650) 593-9698
(also a Tire Rack installer, so good for all tire service/balance/installation, etc.)

For body work, Bay Area (worth the trip)
Eurotech
171 Industrial Road
San Carlos, CA.
(650) 654-6805
Eurotechco.com
These guys do OUTSTANDING work and are the only MB authorized body shop in the area.
They also do wheel refinishing, PDR (when possible) and headlight refinishing (polishing/deglazing).
Check out their newsletter at Eurotech's Newsletter
(Note that they were trusted with repairing a classic 1936 Maybach when it was damaged during filming of "Memoirs of a Geisha")

For transmission service, upper peninsula (near BART, worth the trip)
B&B Transmissions
7073 Mission Street
Daly City, CA 94014
(650) 994-5484

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

In Augusta, Ga. Mercedes Benz of Augusta does a great job everytime I have been there. For older vehicles, Choice Automotive is run by a master mercedes tech named Zack and he is excellent with everything, I have personally dealt with him for many problem cars.
