Im locked out of my car and stuck at work

I have a 1996 mercedes C class. For a couple of weeks now when you lock the car from the fob, the green and red lights on the lock and the rear view mirror have been flashing together and flash for a minute or so rather than just one of the other.

Now the alarm wont turn off and the car is locked.

Its not the batteries in the key because they are new and ive replaced them again today. Ive checked everything is locked properly, windows etc, sensors over the last couple of weeks and I could find nothing wrong.

Any help is appreciated ASAP as im officially buggered!

Oh dear, the two lights flashing together is a warning that the system is faulty. Does your car have the electronic key only?

the drivers side door has a normal key but drivers side is an electronic lock. Only the passenger opens when you open it with the key, I havent tried to get in the car for fear of the alarm going off

**UPDATE**

Sorry I meant the drivers door has an electronic lock and the passenger side can be opened with the key. BUT it only opens the passenger door.

OK, then open the passengers side with the key, the alarm should be dissabled by this and then start the engine. But the Central locking system is faulty and will need repairs. Try and see

It turns out that the two flashing lights actually means the batteries are low in the keyfob. Replacing them didnt work because the IC in the fob circuit board had snapped off so ive had it soldered back on and hey presto the car opens and the lights have returned to normal.

and just for future reference if anyone has the same problem, opening the passenger door with the key doesnt disable the alarm ( I tried it and the alarm went off so I had to disconnect the battery )

I still don't know how-come the mechanical lock on passenger door didn't activate central locks?
In my 96 model the trunk and passenger door locks do that.
My remote works intermediately, so I use it occasionally.
