^^^ More good advice. The E is well-designed, reasonably spacious and drives unbelievably well for a sedan. In my experience, no car can match its combination of smooth, compliant ride and tight, precise handling.

^^Yes, there are a lot of MB models that will go 100s of thousands of miles with minimal problems. The W220 is not among them. Its not only a very complex car, it was built during a period when MB was not paying as much attention to quality control as it should have been. Mine has only 35k miles on it and has had all sorts of problems, far more than my 1995 Subaru Legacy which still runs fine with 170,000 miles on it.

And if you aren't realistic about all cars, Mercedes included, you don't have a brain.

All cars have their pros and cons, Mercedes included. Perfectly-consistent functioning of their sophisticated electronic features tends to fall on the 'con' side for the past decade or so. Meanwhile, they have other virtues, which have also been described at length in this forum

Well said and I agree. I've owned several MB's in the last decade as proof. MB cannot rely on its historica/legendary excellence from the good old days. Today is 2008 and the ability to compete here and now is most important. Hopefully the quality I'm seeing with my 08 C300 is the start of a positive trend.

It's not just the electronics; many nonelectronic parts have failed as well. And there are other brands, eg Lexus, that seem to be able to build reliable automotive electronic systems.

I think he's referring to me! But we should be kind to him, he's obviously challenged in a number of ways.

Wonder how many insignia items he owns

He's quite the troll with multiple AE's. Mods already busted him once, headed for banishment at this rate.

Soo...who is this troll?

There are many Toyotas and Lexus with well over a hundred thousand miles. You'd have to be blind not to see that and I think you may be.
