Which car would you pick

04-06 CL55AMG, 03-05 SL55AMG, or 04-05 BMW 645ci 650 Ci. I like the performance of MBs but the styling of the 6 series is really nice, $55,000 is my cut off price and I need a coupe and no kids or wife are involved, I know some of you have these vehicles and could give me some insight

Mod list:Carlssons front bumper, custom angel eye fogs, headlight rings, #1 pads, Eibach springs, Inmotion ECU tuning, chrome wheels, Illuminated door sills, in dash DVD and backup camera, complete audio system, AMG pedals, LED lights, Blk maple and chrome shift knob, blk maple center cover and door pulls, Zaino, H&R 10mm spacers, K&N filters, Magnaflow exhaust

6-Series is ugly IMHO. I'd get the SL55.

2002 Mercedes-Benz ML320 (sold)
2011 Chrysler Town & Country
2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid
2003 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic
2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

I see you have a CLK now. One of my neighbors has a 2003+ CLK55 AMG (coupe not convertible) and loves it. I like the way the newer body styles, after 2002, look and for $55K to spend you can get a pretty new one too. Don't get me wrong, I like the CL-series and SL-series too, but I think you'll get more bang for your buck with a CLK. Lastly, my dealer salesman said to avoid a 2003 or 2004 MB-anything.

I've only seen one or two and I wasn't that impressed either. I think it's safe to call it "different".

i dont own either, but i know clarkson drives the sl55, so if its good enough for someone who drives bugattis and zondas everyday, its probably got enough performance for you

but given the choice, i would go for a 1991 560sel, in a heartbeat

EDIT: the new beemers are hideous, what are you talking about

If you can afford a late model SL or CL AMG, then go for it. The new BMW's are absolutely horrible to the eye. I don't quite know what they are doing to their overall look and brand image. I've talked with many late model (last gen) BMW owners who won't even consider another simply because of their ugly design... Audi, Mercedes or Lexus soon-to-be converts.

I would be between the SL and the CL....

Two different cars to be sure.. If you enjoy a "firm" ride and no back seats I would do the SL.. Sexiest car on the planet IMO.. If you prefer a more luxurious ride and a back seat opt for the CL... 2nd sexiest car on the planet LOL

I have a CL500 and LOVE the ride. Wouldnt mind a CL55 but I can live with the 302 ponies.

I agree the new bimmers look a bit.. bizarre in the backend..

There's another thread around here somewhere addressing this exact same topic: SL v. CL. And as I said there it may depend on your lifestyle: If you attend more dress-up things (e.g., suit and tie events) you probably will be happier w/ the CL, but if you attend more casual events (e.g., open collar events) you will be happier w/ the SL. Formal v. informal = CL v. SL...
