94 e320 oil pressure gauge jumping

I just bought my first Mercedes. I've only had it 2 days and have fallen in love. I purchased this car for $4500 dollars. I might have paid a little much but I had to have it. Well the issue I have seen with this car is in the oil pressure gauge. When looking to buy the car I noticed the oil pressure was always pegged on 3. I only took a short drive so I thought it could have been caused by the cold weather and cold engine. I also looked at the oil and it was over filled which could also cause the high pressure. Anyways, I changed the oil immediately and then the fun began. The gauge pegged at 3 for 5 minutess. Next it dropped to 0 then 3 then proceeded to dance for a while. It appears the pressure sender is bad. I also just learned these cars are notorious for issues with the wiring harness. If this true a short could explain the sporadic movement also. What do you guys think?

Here's a photo of my new toy. Nice color too. Anyone know how many red e320 were shipped to the states?

Yep, both the engine wiring harness and the oil pressure sender are suspect here. Looking in the W124 forum will get you more than you ever wanted to know about biodegradable wiring insulation - a Mercedes first! Look at your car for the symptoms, then consider the oil pressure sender - it's an easy replace.

Just replace the oil pressure sender - cheap, should be about $35 and easy to do. It's located at the base of the oil filter, accessed from below. It's a bit messy but you can replace it without draining the oil. Nice car BTW.

Thanks for the replies, you guys seem nicer that the Scion TC forum guys. The first time I asked a question there they informed me I needed to RTFM.

I've looked and the cheapest sending unit I could find was $65 with free shipping. What online parts vendor do most of you guys endorse?

Now that I have 1 kid and another on the way what do I do with this.

I guess the nitrous purge with the red led would look good coming out of the Benz star
