Part # A0004640318 'reed coil' 'spring coil'

I am hoping someone on the forum might be able to help me identify the above part number. It has been identified as the problem associated with an SRS warning light, and needs replacing.

Part is likely to be in the area of steering column, dont know location, dont know size, dont know function, dont know how easy to access.

Appreciate any info from parts expert.

Rgds

Part #40 here:
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=105&SGN=05

It is the part that takes care of airbag wires coping for the steering wheel rotation.

You would have to take the steering wheel off to change the part. Be careful with the airbag if you are doing it yourself.

Many thanks for the site pointer. It locates and IDs the part perfect (40).

I will now look into getting access to the unit in question. I suspect the unit is fine but some contacts are loose and may need reseting/cleaning. (Funny, I had to make a horn contact collar like this for an older car).

The SRS light came on when the steering wheel was being moved, I am sure it is a contact issue.

Tks again.

either way you will still have the light on whether the issue gets fixed or not. srs codes have to be cleared once fixed.
