Can anyone help? I have a 2003 S-430, my battery is dead and the trunk won't open with the mechanical key.

This is what I did

I had same problem andit was cold, I squirt a little wd40 in lock and that's worked for me. However that was after several of minutes trying it myself the lock seem to be very hard to turn w/key. Hope that helps.

If you cant free up the lock, they sell a battery charger that plugs into the cigarette jack, (turn on the ignition) and see if you can charge the battery slightly. Or call Mercedes road side assistance and tell them you need a jump, its free lifetime, dont tell them about the trunk. They also do gas and tire changes at N/C and minor things at a charge if they can do it. They also will sell you a battery at over the counter price with no charge for install, and recode the radio, windows ,etc.

The locks turn but you have to press a switch that, I think, needs a minimum of electrical current. I will try the battery charger but with the smart key, I'm not sure I will be able to turn the ignition.

I've done that on my Porsche and it works. The battery maintainer gives plenty of juice for that purpose.

1) This has been a frequent subject in the S/W220 forum and I recommend that you do a search there.

2) There is a latch just under the edge of the trunk and above the license plate that a lot of people don't know about. Just push up and it will open.

Don't believe everything you think

Sorry about the lighter info especially with a smart key, I think there should be a + post under the hood I know my 01 E has one. There is always 1800 for mercedes.

Can someone please help? I have a 2002 S 430 and the trunk will not open. I recently had to jump the car by boosting it from the location under passenger's floor board. The mechanical key opens the trunk only about 2 inches. What can I do?

I assume this reads equally as "read the car manual"? Is it not covered there?

Does this car have a remote trunk closer? Shouldn't it still go up if you lift it with a reasonable force?

If you know how to reach the hot wires at the front passenger floor, why not charge the battery to get electrical appliances up?

The battery is jumped and it's power is fully restored. The door locks, gas lid, and everything else works as it is supposed to. Neither the trunk release on the electronic key nor the trunk release on the driver's door will open the trunk at all. The mechanical key only pops the trunk open about two inches.
