Dash Lights

Merc A140 2002. The dash board lights have gone out, checked the fuses all are ok so it must the bulbs that have gone. is it a dealer only job to put new bulbs in or is it easy enought to do as a d.i.y

sorry the instrument are on its the mileage display thats out

Don't assume the instrument cluster would come out "like it always has", gave that advice to someone for a W211 and quickly realised the construction had been changed

An A-class is still different from the W211. Even different MY 168 cars are different.

On a 2002 car you would have to pull the IC cover out. Push the standard IC removal tools, or a copy, at each side, about an inch and a half inwards from the edge of the IC cover, pointing outwards first and then turn 90 degrees to make the hook face upwards. Pull carefully both hooks until the cover detaches.

If you cannot reach the bulb that needs to be replaced, then unplug cables, remove the screw from behind the cluster, at the bottom and raise the cluster out.

Perhaps you would find a guide with photos from google, would make it simpler to figure out.
