Thanks gregs210 for the reminder about the difference between alternator and generator, I would have used those for the same and I consider it reasonable because even WIS is using it inconsistently even on a single document for alternator description one car
You are of course right, I just hope I'll be forgiven next time talking about a generator
Alexus, are you talking about the workshop instructions for your car from MBUSA? I didn't know it also came with a license. If it is the real workshop manual, you have to sell your car to be able to buy the license (nice but not very useful any more
Cruiseoveride, if you leave the car standing for a week at -20 Celsius, it makes no difference for the car if it is -20 and windy or no wind. The car would not get any colder than -20 Celsius. They aren't that human
The human part comes if the car is first warm from driving and then slowly cools down to the ambient. This happens sooner in windy weather. Still already after the car standing overnight, the residual heat above ambient is negligible even on parts like the battery. It would start after one night better than after a week mainly because of the constant battery drain even if the car is switched off (and other similar issues).
Sorry for a bit of off topic, no help on fixing the car, I though the technical part was already pretty well explained.
