Red face w210 (98) harmonic balance pully.

my pully lost its membrane rubber, and i drove the car home, by looking up the forums i think i might have done a bit more damage than just replace the pully????? can anybody help and give advice on how to change same wj.
P.s.have i any claim against mercedes as i have read this was a call back item by m,b. but when ordering parts in m,b. main dealer in ireland they have never procesed any claims?

Hi, wj and welcome to the forum. Please take a moment to update your BW profile re: vehicle and location, that info can be really useful.

Driving the car with a failing HB can have some negative results, typically they are peripheral (belts, accessories, radiators, fans, etc.).

There was a recall (Richard has pointed you to the sticky) but I'm not sure whether it applies outside the US. If it does you would be covered for the repair except to the extent the dealer determines that you caused additional damage (I won't tell you what to say except that if it all happened at speed and it looked like that by the time you were finally able to pull over.... ).

In any event, call the local dealer and give them your VIN, they will tell you if there is a valid recall program on the Green Isle for your car. I'm crossing my fingers for you!

Take care and enjoy the ride,

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)
