MBUSA Roadside Assistance
My mother called today and told me her '90 420SEL had a flat in the driveway. I was across town at home and I couldn't get there in time, so I advised her to call MBCA Roadside Assistance. This isnt a big deal because she has a CLK that she can drive, but she likes the sedan in colder weather.
She called 2 hours later and said that the car still had a flat, so I asked her what happened.
Heres how it went down.
My mother calls MBUSA and asks for a flat change.
Local MB dealer sends out a very rude Roadside tech. He arrives in a ML to change the tire, only to find that the Brand new 17 year old Michelin Spare tire was very low on air, almost flat. The technician said that her best bet was to "drive the car with a flat tire on the rim to Discount Tire and have a new tire installed, have a nice day." WTF? Drive the car on the flat tire/rim????
So now, I still have to go there early in the morning with one of my SDLs and use my spare to put on her car and get over to the tire place to sort this out. Don't you think MB would have a better solution? Fine if he wants to take the tire to the tire place and help my mother, charge me, I'll be glad to pay for the service. She's older and I've always taken care of her cars so she's never had to worry about things like this. And now that I don't live close by, its hard to get over there quickly.
Does anyone think this is worth contacting MBUSA and seeing what they have to say about this, or should I just not depend on MBUSA to help out in a Jam anymore?
