coolant drain and refill

Has anyone done a coolant drain and refill? Do you use MB antifreeze? I have an ML55 with no drain cocks. How do you drain your system?

Is it a 163.174 with 113 engine? I guess on this one you should drain from the lower coolant hose (detach it). Should use MB coolant (mixed as advised) unless you are absolutely sure the other type is correct for this engine.

Russ1, the only alternative to MB coolant is Xerex G-05. Xerex manufactures the coolant MB puts in their grey containers and the G-05 version is approved by MB. I've seen it in Autozone & Checker parts stores.
I would also recommend mixing it with DISTILLED water versus tap water. This will keep minerals out of your cooling system.

Distilled water at Wallmart is 70 cents a gallon. You don't want to screw up $25 coolant for saving 70 cents?
I pulled lower hose on our ML55 but it was a cut on upper hose, that made me changing coolant.
As stated in another topic, MB coolants are 15years/100,000 miles coolants. What is your ML55 age?

Check the hoses before changing the coolant. If they show any aging, it is advisable to replace them. Especially the lower one.
