I have used Rotex Gold and other brands of brake pads that do NOT contain black graphite like the Pagid-made pads used by Mercedes and sold by their dealers as well as many other suppliers of parts. Recently when it was time to replace front rotors, I decided to try Akebono Ceramic brake pads. Ceramic brake pads are not new science. Porsche has been using them for years with cross-drilled rotors. With that comfortable knowledge I decided to use Zimmermann cross-drilled rotors with Akebono Cermaic pads. I was concerned about equivalent stopping power and longeavity. There is no need for these concerns. I now look at amazement at CLEAN front wheels all the time!
PCCB, Porsche ceramic composite brakes uses carbon ceramic brake DISCS not pads. The OEM pads are a Kevlar fiber based compound. If by stopping power, you mean stopping distance, Akebono brand ceramic pads are inferior. Akebono brand ceramic pads do produce less dust though.
I find that keeping my wheels polished--just like the car's finish--makes cleaning easy. Just rinse them off when you wash the car and they stay pretty clean.
Effectiveness in braking, rather than how clean the wheels are, after use, really should be your primary and foremost consideration in selecting your brake pads, if I read your post correctly.
My girlfriend had wheel protectors on her car and the wheels stayed clean for months.I think they are fine if you dont light up your brakes on a regular basis.
Those so called wheel protectors will distroy your brakes faster than anything I know. NEVER put those damn things on a car you care about!
