Need help to understand my purchase quote

So my MB dealer sent me a quote for my new C300 yesterday, but there are some weird numbers. Maybe you can let me know what they might be. Specifically, it's the "Total Other Charges". I think this includes, frieght, PDI, block heater, but that should only be abotu $2000, not $5262.55. All dollars are CDN. Also where did they put the taxes?

Term, 48 months @ 6.9% Balloon Finance

Selling price: $46590.00
Cash Down: $ 7000.00
Unpaid balance of cash price: $39,590.00
Total Other Charges: $ 5262.55
Total Amount Financed: $44852.55

Monthly Payment: $ 583.66
Balloon Payment at end of term $27488.10

Any help would be appreciated. I have a call into the dealer, but no call back yet.

Without seeing the actual form, it's hard to say, but perhaps the taxes are part of the "other" stuff?

It looks like that is a lease. The numbers used to calculate the lease will either has a seperate tax factor, that then rolls up into the monthly payment, or the varied local taxes are used to estimate a number, that is then integral with the monthly payment.

Total other charges will include taxes. Don't fret about this until you get the full breakdown: review each item & then ask the dealer questions about any you don't understand. If something strikes you as odd or flaky, then post that item(s) on here & we'll help.

Some dealers are reluctant to give you all the figures over the phone as they are trying to leave themselves room to sell you an extended warranty & other services in person. Most importantly, just make sure you understand everything BEFORE you sign any agreements.

Over the phone, they clarified that the "other charges" were: taxes, freight, pdi, a/c tax, tire tax, blockheater.

The customer does not pay for PDI (pre-delivery inspection) in the US; would a Canadian like to comment?

Your right! We don't pay here in USA for a PRE-delivery!

WE PAY FOR A POST DELIVERY INSPECTION!

So the Canadians are UP FRONT about ripping you off
We here rip you off on the back end.

Hmmm......I've said enough!

Freight and PDI is $1895 for any 2008 Mercedes-Benz iin Canada, excluding Smart Cars.

I'm not sure why they would charge you for a block heater. They all come from the factory with one. All they have to do is install the cord and run it to the bumper, which is ~$100 that should be included in the PDI charge.
