how interchangeable are MB stock wheels?

how interchangeable are MB stock wheels between the differrent models?

I love the SEL but I hate the stock wheels on them. I like the stock C-class wheels and they would look a lot better on a SEL to me. see where I'm going with this?

I have CLK wheels on my C280 which look better than the stock C-class wheel.

but the new E500 models have some nice stockers that would look good on a SEC.

sound off.

The offsets are not always compatible.

I wanted some W140 chromed wheels for the SEC and found a set of really nice ones in Hermosa Beach, LA off Criagslist. Just $500.

But the offset was 40mm, fine for a W40 but bad for a W126, which needs 23mm

And I don't like spacers.

I bought W140 replicas from Tire Rack, the ASA 8 hole 16", great price, OEM look, ASA is a subsidiary of the famed BBS, and they simplybolt right on

Check the Tire Rack website, and see what they have for your car.

Bolt pattern and the centre hole diameter are pretty consistent but as said, the offset but also the bolt size varies. Older smaller cars have used 12 mm bolts, W140 I believe uses 14mm but E-class moved from 12 to 14 mm when changing from W210 to W211 (must be the same for the "equivalent" CLK). Haven't looked at the C-class but it could well be 12.
