I have an A160 in the Cayman Islands, and no good mechanic. The car (automatic) will not shift out of first. It just rev's real high.
We're thinking we may need a new Electro Hydraulic Control Unit, or a Lamella Clutch???
Any help in a more confident diagnosis would would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards, Dr. Bert (Grand Cayman)
Interesting enough this happened to me just last week!
Car would only stay in 1st Gear and would not shift out.
I did have a warning light come on. Topic covered in my Owners Manual.
I have to admit here, I sprayed some cleaner into the Shifter knob area, and very soon afterwards I had this problem.
I ended up waiting about 2 hours to "let things cool off" and I used a Power
Duster Sprayer Can to dry off the Shifter Knob area and components.
Was this a coincidence? I don't know.
But whatever I did first, then second, it worked itself out nicely.
For whatever it's worth........Good luck.
