Do keep your engine cleen?

I have noticed that many of the photos on the site have pictures of the engine compartments of the members cars. Some I have noticed are filthy, others are clean. I have always felt that taking care of a car properly meant keeping the motor clean. I don't spray my motor with anything, I just towel it off with a wet towel after I dry the car. How many of you keep your engine compartment many dont?
