Question Anti skid & limp mode!

I fear I have a major problem looming, someone please tell me otherwise. I own a 1999 CLK 320 sport with very low milage for the year (30,000miles)
The intermittant problem I have with the car has two distingtive symptoms. Firstly the speed of the car is restricted to approx 60mph, the engine still revs to full capacity but does not transfer the torque to the road wheels. Also the auto transmission will excellerate up to 60mph as if it is in kickdown. When the ignition is turned off and then the engine is restarted after approx 10 seconds the problem clears & away we go. During this time there are no alarms visable on the dash.
The second set of symptoms are a little more dramatic. The anti skid alarm initiates, the drivers air bag warning light comes on, the speed drops to approx 10mph and the engine appears to partially shut down to the extent that it is only running on 3 cylinders. The cure appears to be the same, stop the engine, wait 10 seconds then restart. The time span between the first & second symptoms is within a couple of days of each other, at the moment there appears to be approx 300 miles between them repeating. Can anyone help??

This happens often, one gets a resolution from oneself

This should actually happen more often, as you say, it would be useful for others to know how the issue was solved, irrespectively how and who figured it out.
Thanks for posting.
