What does "Lock Front Passenger Seat" mean?

This is what it says on the car screen. I did have to move the passenger seat up because I was putting something in the back seat. I did "fix" the passenger seat and "lock it in to place" or into position, I heard a click and everything. Why does it still say "lock passenger seat" even after I restart the car? It's not talking about the door btw, only the seat. At first I thought it was the door and re-shut the door but that's not it. And I did put the seat back "as far as I can tell".

Am I supposed to press some special button to "lock it"??

What model Benz?

You may have popped the seat off of its track. Does the seat wiggle around, or can you still move the seat back and forth with the buttons on the door?

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but the wise so full of doubts.

Guessing from previous posts it could be a 208. If so, does it have memory seats?

You said you tried the door but did you try the seat? Release the back rest and fold it back to position again.

Try sitting on the seat, sometimes putting it back is not enough, although it looks as if you have put it back to its original position, you need some weight on it for the sensor to confirm.

I'll try your suggestions tomorrow. I can't right now cause it's cold and I don't want to walk to the garage. I didn't actually trying sitting in the passenger seat and then moving the seat back and forth. I'll try that tomorrow right away.

Mine does it frequently, sitting on it always clears the warning.

Hello, If the seat is all the way back and locked into place, most likely, the switch that is triggered when the seat is in it's locked position has failed and the switch is not recognizing the fact that the seat is locked into place. There may be a problem with it and may need to be replaced.

That was the problem - the switch - in my CL. Hope it's under warranty...

Thanks everyone, I sat in the seat and adjusted the seat a bit with the memory buttons and everything is fine now.
