Mercedes, least reliable

Most Mercedes drivers will view the Consumer Reports survey as biased, incomplete, etc. No matter how you look at it, it is a data point.

Here is something to read:
Toyota slips in 'Consumer Reports' reliability study - USATODAY.com

Let the flame war start!

And the last 10 places by make are

.

.
Suzuki
GMC
Jeep
Chevrolet
Volkswagen
Pontiac
Mercedes-Benz
Cadillac
Hummer
Land Rover

Just a few months ago JD Powers had their survey out and MB had shot all the way up to #5 from 25! The E class beat out the GS and the S class was tied with Audi A8 for #1 in large luxury sedan and the Lexus LS was #3.

The SA at my dealership said the first new W211's were full of issues but the 2007 are greatly improved and said even the 2006 were pretty reliable and well made. Said they are getting better and better as they realized what they needed to do. Many of my friends with the newer W211 have put in decent amount of miles on their cars and so far no issues! It is hard to know what to believe so I go by personal experience or from what friends are saying about their cars as I plan to get a new E class sometime next year.

Correct about the JD Powers results. It surveys the initial 90 days of ownership.

The CR survey is for 3 years, I believe.

So the two surveys could be different.

Both, however, saw the quality of Ford increasing.
