ASR Skid Control msg, Check battery
Let me recap here:
I originally had a flashing fuel reserve, ASR Skid control message, and then a subsequent check engine start a couple weeks ago. I read DTCs and had several CAN faults (most noteworthy CAN from ETC faulty triggered Check Engine light, but also CAN from ME disturbed, VSS for poor road recognition. I ordered a used coded Trans control module (f36) and made the swap a couple days ago. The flashing reserve and check engine light have disappeared, however, now I am having the same problem as this guy.
ASR MIL, ASR Skid Control message in cluster, then the car dies, then Check Battery. My battery is an Interstate battery as well, however a Midtronics test shows the battery is fine. I will check the charging system Monday, oh by the way this is a 97 E420 as well with 146k. And with this symptom it is not throwing any codes. The only code I have is 008-Reverse/Park Solenoid Y66/1 short circuit/open circuit.
Things I have checked/done thus far:
New/used trans control module, correct coding
Verified case blower motor is working to cool control modules in RF box
Inspected Z splices for Engine CAN bus and connectors to ASR,ME,ETC,CCM
Battery test with Midtronics
Replaced 2 more ignition coils that happened to go bad (every winter they do)
Tested stop lamp switch with SDS
Tested gear recognition switch with SDS
Cleaned LF VSS speed sensor of magnetic shavings
Any words of wisdom here? I can get a MB battery fairly easily so whoever mentioned Interstate might be onto something.
