It really does pay to shop for a dealer rather than a specific car. In most cases the right dealer can get you the model/colour you are looking for through a swap.

My last MB purchase took a little over an hour. I arrived at opening. The car was in the delivery area, prepped and freshly washed. I paid the finance guy and they looked over my trade. They took off my plates and called Sirius to swap over my radio account. The salesperson went over the basic features of the car and handed over the smart key. I never felt abandoned at any time, as either the General Manager, Finance Manager or Salesperson were always close at hand this early in the morning.

LOL JayHawk and FlyboyIke! You wish!

On a serious note....

I contacted MBUSA directly by letter with a detailed time line of exactly what happened. They were not amused. When I was asked why I didn't contact the Dealership's GM, I explained "Why would I go to them with anything when I couldn't trust them to deliver the car right?" They understood. I also explained that after making the complaint I would never go back, because I did not and could not trust them to not sabotage the car, which was a problem we had with another dealership years ago when my husband reported an inferior repair job to Toyota. Again they said while it should not happen, they understood.

Over the past few days I have had contact with most of the MB reps handling our concerns and needs downstream. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about all of them so far. If they follow through with everything promised-- and I have no doubt at this point they will, we will be more than satisfied.

However the deal isn't done until the paperwork is finished.

And so the story goes...

Latest report is MBUSA has performed like a true professional champion. We recieved completely everything we requested for our time and trouble, and it wasn't a free oil change--

I'm personally very statisfied with their concern and response. They've kept us for a customer.

And we still love the C350!

What exactly did you receive for your trouble?

Could you share what it was exactly the remedy that you were given consisted of that saisfied you so well?

After all, that would be the proper conclusion to this story with a happy ending.

Come on, don't keep us hanging - unless the settlement was "confidential"...
and you are not allowed to say.

It is good you are enjoying the car!

At the moment I am writing about it and will be posting it on my blog. Without giving it all away, because we're not completely done yet-- let's say for the next 100K the car's covered.
